Promos
I moved to New York in 1992 after getting an MA in film and video production from UT in Austin. At the time I was keen on finding work as a cinematographer on independent features or graduate student films. But two things happened almost immediately that led me in other directions: I got a full time job as an assistant commercial editor and learned the then-new Avid software; and one of the first people I met in the city was a producer in the MTV promos department who had seen an experimental student film of mine and started hiring me to shoot and edit jobs for him. I lasted all of a year and a half at the editing gig before quitting to pursue freelance production and editorial work.
The clips on this page show a few of those early works as well as some more recent promos and interstitials that I have also produced and directed.
